The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus were proud to present our second annual Chili Cook Off on Tuesday, January 19th in Sacred Heart Friendship Hall. There were many winners on Tuesday, but we would like to recognize the following winners as voted by the more than 100 guests.
Individual Parishioner division:
Tied for 1st place – Hipster Fantasy – Cheri Phelps
Tied for 1st place – This is Baaaaahd Chili – Regan LaMothe
3rd place – Deer Camp Chili – Ron and Patti Wiktorowski
Restaurant Business division:
1st place – Two Scotts Barbecue
2nd place – Black Heron
3rd place – Monarchs’ Club
For a small donation guests received chili tastings and a ballot to vote for the best chili on the west side of Grand Rapids. All profits from donations will go to support Sacred Heart Knights’ charity events and programs like the Sacred Heart All Saints party, Keep Christ in Christmas card design contest, council level Catholic Citizenship Essay contest, Altar boy appreciation event, sponsoring Sacred Heart Academy kids trip to Washington DC to participate in the March for Life 2016, Holy Cross Haven weekend breakfasts and more.
Individual competitors are Sacred Heart parishioners who make excellent chili. In 2015, only four votes separated the first four individual chilies. In 2016, only four votes separated the first three individual chilies. The 2016 restaurant division was also very close with only eight votes separating the top three finishers.
