On January 20th, 2019, the Knights of Columbus members of Fr. Solanus Casey Assembly 2773 presented a 4th Degree Chalice to Father John Bosco. Assembly 2773 is located in Big Rapids. The assembly presents an engraved chalice each year to a deserving priest in Michigan in memory of their members who have passed away in the prior year. Representing the 4th degree assembly were Faithful Navigator Lon Rauch, Honor Guard Commander, George Groll and Past Faithful Navigator Mike Pigorsh.
The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus were proud to work with the Fr. Solanus Casey Assembly 2773 Assembly to present the memorial chalice and paten to Father John at the 10:30 Mass. The chalice and paten were a welcoming gift given in memory of the deceased members of the 4th degree assembly.
Father John Bosco Ssekkomo is a priest from Uganda who studied at the Mundelein Seminary. Father John was ordained in August 2013 in his home country of Uganda. Father John acting as chaplain for Spectrum Health, serving both the Butterworth and Blodgett campuses and resides at Sacred Heart rectory. Father John mentioned that the new chalice will make it easier for him to offer Masses at the Blodgett campus chapel.
The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus are always proud to support our priests and religious who do so much to server us. Each year we donate to support a seminarian to help them make ends meet. Our council has been supporting Mundelein seminarian Michael Goodwin for over three years. Michael will be ordained in June 2019.
