The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882, it was named in honor of the mariner Christopher Columbus. Originally serving as a mutual benefit society to low-income immigrant Catholics, it developed into a fraternal benefit society dedicated to providing charitable services, promoting Catholic education and actively defending Roman Catholicism in various nations. Even after more than 100 years, the Knights of Columbus are still committed to our core principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
The Sacred Heart council was chartered in 2004. We are committed to the fraternity’s fundamental principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. We believe that the time we spend supporting Knights events make a difference in the parish, community and world.
Our Catholic faith is paramount to the Knights. It is important to take the time to understand what we believe and why.
The Sacred Heart council is committed to helping out our parish, academy and community through events and campaigns which promote and support pro-life causes and organizations, religious freedom, Catholic education, strengthening our families, evangelization, charitable works and social welfare.
Our council has recently won multiple state awards for our work. In 2015 we were one of only two councils in Michigan to win the Triple Star award from the state and the Supreme Contest of Champions award.
