Mentally Impaired Tootsie Roll Drive

Thank you to all those who contributed to this drive on the weekend of March 23 – 25 and to all the Knights and their helpers who braved the cold to help the less fortunate. Preliminary totals are in and it appears that our council collected well over $1500 to help our mentally impaired brothers and sisters. Details on which charities will receive these funds will be available after our next monthly meting.

With your help we can make a difference in the lives of so many who need our help. Thank you.

4th Annual Chili Cook Off

Thank you to everyone who made our 4th annual Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Chili Cook Off a great success in spite of the bad weather. We had to setup extra tables to provide enough seating. Everyone we talked to had a great time tasting the wide variety of ten different chilies.

In the restaurant competition Two Scotts Barbecue barely beat out new comer Matchbox Diner. Mitten Brewing Co. and  New Holland Knickerbocker were just behind in a very tight competition. Please let these businesses know how much you appreciate their support the next time you visit them.

In the parishioner category, Marijo Forrester won with her Nonna’s Italian Chili. Thank you to Cheri Phelps for her Cibus Gustatus Optimi chili, Amber Hiske for her Smoking Joe chili, Ron Wiktorowski for his Deer Camp chili, Regan LaMothe for his Fly Swatter chili and Kelly Nachtegall for Kelly’s Kickin chili.

The biggest winner were all those that will benefit from the funds raised by this event.

We look forward to making a few changes for next year’s event to keep things interesting and fresh. Maybe we will add beer tasting to our next cook off. Send us your suggestions at [email protected].

Thank you again to all of our supporters.

Wreaths for Veterans

The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus are donating funds to help salute our fallen veterans. We are once again donating to Ottawa-North Kent Blue Star Mothers of America MI-194. This group purchases and lays wreaths at the veteran’s cemetery on north Monroe. In 2016 the group laid over 4000 wreaths. This year, they are striving to lay one wreath on each grave. That is over 5400. Please follow this link if you would like to donate.
